Troopers responded to the Germansville Post Office on Memorial Road in Heidelberg around 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, for a man who was harassing customers, authorities said.

After the confrontation, a trooper went to the man's home down the street, where the man threatened to kill the trooper and was showing the trooper items in a threatening manner, according to police.

Troopers from both the Bethlehem and Fogelsville stations arrived on scene and created a perimeter around the male’s home. The man eventually left his home and was taken into custody by State Police, then hospitalized for a mental health evaluation.

Several local streets were closed during the incident.
